This experimental multipart film project investigates “risk” as a lived condition, produced through the coevolution of capitalist systems and violent conflict. This is observed in the colonial roots of international law and their material formation of lived-built environment. The project focuses on the effects across Lebanon and Syria, with a view to understanding the wider regional and global consequences. In response, using poetic and critical-legal approaches to explore ways of dismantling neocolonial violence towards wider frameworks of accountability and justice.

As an artist, writer and educator, Helene Kazan has exhibited and published her work widely in exhibitions and with museums and institutions internationally. Kazan is a senior lecturer in the School of the Arts, at Oxford Brookes University and received her doctorate from the Centre for Research Architecture, Goldsmiths, University of London.
